Sofia, a certified gemologist and gemology trainer, guides her students in the discovery and understanding of precious stones.

Our gemologist, Jamel Hamdaoui, is an expert in gemstone valuation and identification, with nearly 9 years of experience in the field. He has completed specialized training in Switzerland, in Geneva, at the David Craft Institute, recognized by the Swiss Federation for Continuing Education and also accredited by the Gem-A school in London as an ATC (Accredited teaching center) & GAPP (Gem-A Approved Practical Provider), to conduct their courses and exams, Foundation or Diploma levels.

Before becoming a gemologist, he spent over ten years in the watch industry at Rolex SA in Geneva, where he rose from “multi-skilled operator” to “technical respondent.” These experiences have allowed him, with immense pride, to acquire in-depth knowledge of the watchmaking industry.

Sofia became a gemologist, benefiting from in-depth training and experience alongside her husband, Jamel.

She is a valuable asset in the research and selection of the finest stones, standing out for her teaching methods and kindness towards her students, offering personalized advice and attentive support.

Together, Sofia and Jamel created the Jamel Gems website, reflecting their shared vision and passion for precious stones.

Synthetic Emerald

Here you have a synthetic emerald (Colombian type), whose manufacturing process is called “Hydrothermal”, we recognize it with its synthetic Hydrothermal type inclusions. When selling, synthetic gems created in the laboratory can be sold when it is well declared and quoted “synthetic, created in the laboratory”. But unfortunately it is also this type of gem that we can find in the counterfeiting of the gem trade if it is not declared “synthetic” but “natural” in order to mislead the buyer..
